SOMATIC CARE
Breathwork
Breathwork is the intentional use of the breath to support emotional, physical, mental, and nervous system regulation. While breathing is something we do automatically every moment of our lives, most people are not actually breathing fully or effectively. Over time, stress, trauma, burnout, anxiety, chronic tension, and survival patterns can change the way we breathe — often leading to shallow chest breathing, breath-holding, tightness in the body, and nervous systems that remain stuck in states of fight, flight, freeze, or overwhelm.
The breath is one of the few systems in the body that is both automatic and consciously controllable, which makes it incredibly powerful. Through intentional breathing practices, we can directly communicate safety to the nervous system, helping the body shift out of survival mode and into states of regulation, rest, repair, and connection. When the nervous system begins to regulate, people often notice improvements not only emotionally, but physically as well — including reduced stress and anxiety, improved sleep, increased energy, better digestion, clearer thinking, emotional release, and a greater sense of presence within themselves.

PRACTITIONERS
Breathwork is not simply “taking deep breaths.” It is the practice of reconnecting with the body, increasing awareness, and creating space for emotions, tension, and experiences that may have been stored or suppressed over time. Many people move through life disconnected from their breath without realizing it, limiting oxygen flow, increasing tension, and reinforcing stress patterns within the body. Learning to breathe more fully and intentionally helps improve oxygen circulation throughout the body and organs, supports the cardiovascular and nervous systems, and helps restore a healthier relationship between the mind and body.
The breath is one of the most powerful tools we have access to — and it is with us every moment of every day. It has the ability to ground us, regulate us, reconnect us, and support lasting healing from the inside out. While breathwork is not a replacement for medical or mental health care, it can be a deeply supportive and transformative practice that helps people access greater awareness, emotional resilience, nervous system regulation, and connection to themselves.
